ZoneCoachPrivacy Policy
The short version
- No account, no login, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. We don't sell or share your data.
- Your runs, GPS routes, heart rate and profile stay on your iPhone and in Apple Health. We never receive them.
- Our server only sees a random install identifier and, when you write custom coach lines, the text of those lines so they can be recorded as spoken audio.
- This website uses cookieless, aggregate analytics. If you join the launch waitlist, we keep your email only to tell you about the launch.
This policy explains how Wave3 LLC (“Wave3”, “we”, “us”) handles information in the ZoneCoach app for iPhone and Apple Watch (the “App”) and on this website, zone.coach (together, the “Service”). Wave3 LLC is the company responsible for the Service. Questions: support@zone.coach.
1. Information that stays on your device
Most of what ZoneCoach does happens entirely on your iPhone and Apple Watch. The following is stored only on your devices (and in Apple Health, where noted). It is never sent to us:
- Workouts and plans you create or pick, including your custom coach lines as saved in the App.
- Run history: time, distance, pace, splits, effort ratings, and data used to resume a run if the App closes mid-run.
- Location: with your permission, the App uses GPS during a run (including while your phone is locked) to record your route and distance. Location is used only while a run is active.
- Health data: with your permission, the App reads heart-rate samples and past workouts from Apple Health and saves each finished run, its route and heart-rate samples to Apple Health. On Apple Watch, heart rate is passed directly from your Watch to your iPhone.
- Profile and settings you enter, such as age or heart-rate values used to show zones.
Data in Apple Health is managed by Apple under your Health permissions; you can review or revoke ZoneCoach's access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings. We never use Health or location data for advertising or marketing, and never disclose it to third parties.
If you choose to share a workout file or a run card, it goes directly from your device to the people or apps you pick through the iOS share sheet. It does not pass through our servers.
2. Information our server receives
The App downloads recorded coach cues from our server. To do that, it sends:
- An install identifier: a random ID the App generates when it is installed. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or device identifiers. We use it to authenticate requests and to enforce fair-use limits.
- Custom coach-line text: when you write a coach line that doesn't have a recording yet, the App sends its text to us so it can be recorded as spoken audio. We store the text, the resulting audio, the install identifier that requested it, and timestamps. Please don't put personal or sensitive information in coach lines.
- Standard request information: like any web server, our hosting provider records technical request logs, including IP address, time, the address requested, and app or browser type.
Our server never receives your runs, routes, location, heart rate or other health data.
3. This website
zone.coach does not use cookies, advertising pixels or cross-site trackers. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) to operate and secure the site.
Analytics. To understand how many people visit and which parts of the page are useful, we use PostHog in a cookieless mode. It records page views, clicks on buttons and links, which sections of the page were viewed, and general information such as referring site, browser, device type and approximate country. Nothing is stored on your device, and visitors are counted using a hash that changes daily rather than a persistent identifier, so we can't recognize you across days or link activity to you. We don't record sessions or what you type, and we've configured PostHog to discard IP addresses.
Launch waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, when you signed up and which form you used. We use it only to tell you when ZoneCoach launches and about major updates to it; we never sell it or use it for advertising. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can email support@zone.coach to be removed and have your address deleted.
4. How we use information
- To provide the Service: deliver and record coach cues.
- To tell waitlist subscribers about the launch, and to understand, in aggregate, how people use this website.
- To keep the Service secure and available: rate limits, daily recording limits, preventing abuse and debugging.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling or selling, and we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws.
5. Service providers
We use a small number of providers who process information on our behalf, only to run the Service:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
6. Retention
- Request logs: kept for about 30 days, then deleted automatically.
- Daily usage counters (install identifier and a count): deleted automatically within a few days.
- Waitlist emails: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we no longer send launch updates.
- Website analytics: aggregate event data kept in PostHog according to its standard retention; it isn't linked to you.
- Coach-line text and recordings: kept while the Service operates, so the same line can be played again without re-recording. You can ask us to delete them (see below).
7. Your choices and rights
- You can use ZoneCoach without writing custom coach lines; built-in cues send no text to us.
- You can turn off Location or Health access at any time in iOS Settings; some features will stop working.
- Deleting the App removes its on-device data. Data already saved in Apple Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information. Because we don't link anything to your identity, the easiest way to ask is to email support@zone.coach with the exact coach-line text you want deleted. We'll respond within the time required by law.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with Google Cloud, which encrypts data at rest. Access is limited to what the Service needs to run. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the information we hold.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International users
We are based in the United States and our servers are located there. If you use the Service from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above, and for material changes we'll give notice in the App or on this site before they take effect.
